This week, Cloudflare recently experienced a significant service degradation, which impacted various services, including those reliant on Cloudflare’s Content Delivery Network (CDN). Many apps and sites were slowed down or broken—including one of our relied upon CSS style sheets, which turned us look bad.
Cloudflare was back up and running in hours—they do a fairly good job of keeping the internet running, but because of our new architecture and a focus on self-reliance, we were able to port our code locally, faster.
We turned a potential crisis into a routine update. Your dashboards loaded faster because they weren’t waiting on a third-party server. This is the kind of convenience we’re obsessed with—the kind you don’t notice until it’s missing everywhere else.
